Berhampur University is seeking two passionate and qualified Field Investigators for an important ICSSR-sponsored research project focused on plastic pollution in coastal Odisha. ICSSR Research Project Detials

Funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, this minor research project is titled:

“Non-Biodegradable Plastic Pollution and Its Socio-Economic Implication, Policy Gaps, Public Health Risks, and Sustainable Alternatives in Coastal Odisha: A Case Study of Puri and Chilika.”

The study will investigate the severe environmental and social impacts of plastic waste in the coastal regions of Puri and Chilika. Researchers will analyze socio-economic consequences, identify gaps in current policies, assess public health risks, and explore viable sustainable alternatives to plastic use.

Odisha Govt Job

Position: Field Investigator (Two Vacancies)

We are looking for two dedicated Field Investigators to join this critical project. The role involves extensive fieldwork, data collection, community interaction, and supporting the research team in Puri and Chilika.

  • Project Tenure: One Year

  • Appointment Duration: Two Months

  • Monthly Emoluments: ₹20,000 (as per ICSSR guidelines)

  • Location: Fieldwork in Puri and Chilika, Odisha

Eligibility and Qualifications

Minimum Requirement:

  • A Postgraduate degree in any Social Science discipline (Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Environmental Studies, etc.) with a minimum of 55% marks.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working on research projects, especially in data collection or fieldwork.

  • Familiarity with environmental issues, surveys, and community-based research.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in rural and coastal settings.
