Essential Eligibility Criteria for Sub-Editor Post

Candidates must meet the following requirements to apply for this OSCU Sub-Editor recruitment:

1. Educational Qualification

Mandatory: Post Graduate degree in any discipline.

Preference: Candidates with a Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, or Commerce will be given preference.

2. Journalism Qualification (Any one of the following)

Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (PGDJMC)

Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (DJMC)

OR 5 years of experience as a Sub-Editor or Assistant Sub-Editor in a living newspaper.


3. Technical Skill (Mandatory)

PGDCA or DCA Certificate with Odia DTP writing knowledge is compulsory.

4. Cooperative Training (Compulsory)

Higher Diploma in Cooperative Management (HDCM)

Diploma in Cooperative Management and Administration (DCMA)

Diploma in Cooperative Management (DCM)

Note: The cooperative training certificate is a non-negotiable requirement for this post.


Age Limit & Relaxation (as on 01.04.2026)

Minimum Age: 25 years

Maximum Age: 42 years

Relaxation: Upper age limit relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/SEBC/Women candidates as per Government of Odisha norms.

Selection Process for OSCU Sub-Editor

The selection will be based on the aggregate of three components: Written Test, Viva-Voce, and Career Marks.

Written Test (100 Marks)

The exam paper includes:

Essay in Odia – 10 marks

Translation (English to Odia) – 10 marks

Paragraph writing in Odia – 10 marks

News writing in Odia – 20 marks

General Knowledge – 20 marks

Journalism & Mass Communication – 30 marks

Viva-Voce Test (15 Marks)

Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for an interview/personality test.

Career Marks

Marks are awarded based on academic performance in HSC, +2, +3, and PG:

1st Class: 7.5 marks (PG) to 3 marks (HSC)

2nd Class: 5 marks (PG) to 2 marks (HSC)

3rd Class: 3 marks (PG) to 1 mark (HSC)
