Selection Process: GATE 2026 (90%) + Interview (10%)

OPTCL follows a transparent two-stage selection process.

Stage 1: Shortlisting based on GATE 2026 score
Candidates are shortlisted category-wise for the Personal Interview based on their GATE 2026 normalized marks (out of 100). Only those meeting the qualifying marks declared by the GATE 2026 organizing body (IIT Guwahati) are considered.

Stage 2: Personal Interview (10% weightage)
Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification (via DigiLocker) and a personal interview. The final merit list is prepared based on the following weightage:

  • GATE 2026 Marks (out of 100): 90%

  • Personal Interview: 10%

Pro Tip: Since GATE score carries 90% weightage, a high GATE 2026 EE score is the single most important factor for selection. Make sure your application details match exactly with your GATE 2026 score card – any discrepancy leads to rejection.
