About the Recruitment

The college has announced a total of 3 vacancies for the following positions:

  • Principal – Application fee: ₹1,500/‑

  • Assistant Professor in Law – Application fee: ₹1,000/‑

The number of posts may be increased, decreased, or modified subject to the approval of the competent authority and applicable statutory/regulatory requirements.

Post of Principal: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates aspiring for the post of Principal must fulfill the qualifications prescribed under the applicable UGC Regulations and the Bar Council of India Rules of Legal Education, 2008.

Essential Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.

  2. Professor/Associate Professor with a total service/experience of at least ten (10) years of teaching/research in Universities, Colleges, and other institutions of higher education.

  3. A minimum of ten (10) research publications in peer‑reviewed or UGC‑listed journals.

  4. The prescribed minimum Research Score of 110 under the applicable UGC criteria.

The candidate must also satisfy the requirement of being qualified in Law in accordance with the BCI Rules of Legal Education, 2008. As per BCI norms, the Principal/Head/Dean of a Centre of Legal Education must have minimum qualifications as prescribed by the UGC for the respective position. The BCI Rules mandate that the head of a Centre of Legal Education must be a person qualified as a Professor of Law.

Institutional Requirement

The selected Principal shall be required to serve as a Regular Principal and shall be responsible for:

  • Academic leadership and administration

  • Maintenance of academic standards

  • Compliance with the requirements of the affiliating University, UGC, and Bar Council of India

  • Overall institutional development

Desirable Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates having:

  • Experience as Principal/Head/Dean or in an equivalent academic‑administrative position

Post of Assistant Professor in Law: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the post of Assistant Professor in Law must possess the following qualifications:

Essential Qualifications

(i) A Master's Degree in Law (LL.M.) with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever a grading system is followed, from a recognised Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.

OR

(ii) The candidate shall have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, such as SLET/SET.

OR

(iii) Candidates who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the applicable UGC Regulations governing the minimum standards and procedure for the award of the Ph.D. Degree shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET.

Important Notes

  • A relaxation of 5% in the minimum qualifying marks at the Master's degree (from 55% to 50%) shall be applicable to candidates belonging to the categories and in the manner prescribed under the applicable UGC Regulations.

  • For the discipline of Law, the above qualification shall be read subject to the applicable provisions of the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and other Academic Staff and the Bar Council of India Rules of Legal Education, 2008, as amended from time to time.

Pay and Service Conditions

The pay, allowances, and other service conditions of the Principal and Assistant Professor shall be governed by the applicable UGC/State Government/University/BCI norms and the rules of the College, subject to the approval of the competent authority. The appointment shall be subject to the service conditions prescribed by the College and the applicable statutory/regulatory authorities from time to time.

Mode of Selection

The selection shall be made through a duly constituted Selection Committee in accordance with the applicable UGC/University/BCI norms.

  • Candidates shall be shortlisted on the basis of the prescribed eligibility criteria and such additional screening criteria as may lawfully be adopted by the competent authority.

  • The final selection shall be based upon the candidate's academic qualifications, teaching/research experience, publications, academic/research achievements, professional competence, and performance before the Selection Committee.

  • The academic score shall be used for shortlisting, wherever applicable under the UGC Regulations.

  • Principal: ₹1,500/‑ (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred only)

The fee shall be paid through a Demand Draft drawn in favour of "Yudhistir Mishra Law College, Balangir." The application fee, once paid, shall be non‑refundable, unless otherwise decided by the competent authority.

General Terms and Conditions

  1. The applicant must be an Indian citizen and must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the last date of submission of application.

  2. The prescribed qualifications shall be obtained from recognised/accredited Universities or Institutions and shall conform to the applicable statutory requirements.

  3. Mere possession of the minimum prescribed qualification shall not confer any right upon the applicant to be called for interview or to claim appointment.

  4. The College reserves the right to shortlist candidates on the basis of academic qualifications, research publications, teaching/research experience, and other relevant criteria.

  5. Candidates employed in Government, Government‑aided institutions, Universities, Colleges, or other organisations shall submit their applications through proper channel or produce an appropriate No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time prescribed by the College.

  6. Candidates called for interview shall produce the original certificates, testimonials, experience certificates, and other supporting documents for verification.

  7. Any candidate found to have furnished false, incorrect, fabricated, or misleading information, or to have suppressed material information, shall be liable for cancellation of candidature/appointment at any stage.

  8. Canvassing in any form, directly or indirectly, shall be treated as a disqualification.

  9. The College reserves the right to withdraw, modify, increase, decrease, or not fill up any or all of the advertised posts without assigning any reason.

  10. No correspondence shall ordinarily be entertained regarding the shortlisting/non‑shortlisting or selection/non‑selection of candidates.

  11. No TA/DA shall ordinarily be paid for appearing in the interview.

  12. The appointment shall be subject to verification of educational qualifications, experience, character, and antecedents.

  13. The selected candidate shall be required to join the College within the period stipulated in the appointment order.

  14. The appointment shall remain subject to approval/recognition of the competent authorities wherever such approval is statutorily required.

  15. In all matters relating to eligibility, shortlisting, selection, and appointment, the decision of the competent authority shall be final.
