MCL Trainee Recruitment 2026 Out: 500 Posts | Foreman ₹47K Salary – Apply Online


Mahandai Coalfields Limited (MCL), a prominent subsidiary of Coal India Limited (a Government of India undertaking), has officially released its Recruitment 2026 notification for two key positions: Assistant Foreman (Electrical) Trainee and Technician (Electrician) Trainee. One of the biggest highlights of this recruitment is the competitive pay scale under the National Coal Wage Agreement (NCWA-XI). Selected candidates for the post of Assistant Foreman (Electrical) Trainee will receive a monthly basic pay of ₹47,330.25 per month. Meanwhile, Technician (Electrician) Trainees will be paid a daily basic wage of ₹1,583.32 per day. Total Vacancies and Reservation Details

MCL has announced a total of 500 tentative vacancies. Out of these, 150 vacancies are for the Assistant Foreman (Electrical) Trainee post under T&S Gr-C (E&M), and 350 vacancies are for the Technician (Electrician) Trainee post under Cat-III (E&M). Candidates should note that vacancies are tentative, and the management reserves the right to increase, decrease, or cancel them as per requirement. Importantly, 06 horizontal vacancies are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) for the Assistant Foreman post. However, as per government guidelines, the Technician (Electrician) post is not identified for PwBD candidates, hence no reservation applies for that position.

Eligibility Criteria You Must Fulfill

Educational Qualification

For the Assistant Foreman (Electrical) Trainee post, you must possess a Diploma in Electrical Engineering (minimum 3 years course) approved by AICTE, or a Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering approved by AICTE.

For the Technician (Electrician) Trainee post, the requirements are: Matriculation or equivalent pass from a recognized board; an ITI (2 year course) in Electrician Trade with a trade certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT; a minimum of 1 year of on-job training or practical experience; and an LT permit under IE rules for Mines or a 440-550 Volts mining parts permit issued by a competent authority.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The cut-off date for age determination is 28th May 2026. Candidates must be at least 18 years old on that date. The upper age limit for General (UR) and EWS category candidates is 30 years. However, significant age relaxation is available: OBC (NCL) candidates get 3 years, SC/ST candidates get 5 years, and Persons with Disabilities (PwBD) applying for the Assistant Foreman post get 10 to 15 years depending on their category. Ex-Servicemen receive actual service period plus 3 years, and departmental candidates of CIL and its subsidiaries have no upper age limit.

Selection Process: Computer Based Test and Document Verification

The selection process for both posts consists of a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by Document Verification. The CBT will be objective type with multiple-choice questions, and there is no negative marking – a major advantage for candidates. The test paper carries a total of 100 marks. Section A (General Awareness/Aptitude) has 20 questions of one mark each, while Section B (Technical Knowledge) has 80 questions of one mark each. The exam will be bilingual (English/Hindi).

Qualifying marks in the CBT are: 45% for General/EWS candidates, 40% for OBC(NCL) candidates, and 35% for SC/ST candidates. Based on CBT merit, candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio for document verification. In case of a tie in marks, the elder candidate (by date of birth) gets preference, followed by name alphabets. After successful document verification, a provisional select list will be published on the MCL website.

Application Fee and Exemptions

Candidates belonging to General, OBC (both Creamy Layer and Non-Creamy Layer), and EWS categories are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹1,000 plus applicable GST of ₹180, totaling ₹1,180. Payment can be made online via debit card, credit card, or net banking. No other mode of payment is accepted. However, SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, Female candidates, and employees of Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries are exempted from paying any application fee. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
